Barcelona interested in Kurzawa, who could leave at zero cost

Barcelona's surprising interest in Layvin Kurzawa seems to be taking shape. The left-back is about to end his contract and, in view of the economic crisis because of the coronavirus health emergency, he looks like an interesting signing. Sevilla FC have also reported their interest.

'Sport' wanted to analyze the circumstances that have led Barcelona to be interested in this footballer. To begin with, sources confirmed that the season of Junior Firpo was disappointing in the club and, for this reason, they are looking for a substitute who could give more guarantees.

Barcelona will need income to try to undertake some other signings if they want to rebuild the squad, and Junior Firpo, who is still young and has potential, could bring a sizeable amount if he is to be sold.

In addition, PSG's Kia Joorabchian, a man who has already brought Coutinho and Neto to Barcelona and with whom there is an excellent relationship, is currently representing Kurzawa. 

The main factor holding Barcelona back at the moment is the downturn the full-back has experienced in recent years. For a while, Kurzawa was one of the most promising wingers in Europe, but he seems to have stagnated. And that's why PSG have not made much of an effort to renew him either.

Moreover, Lucas Digne has already passed through the Camp Nou without much luck and Barça are not keen to repeat the situation, even if the Frenchman made the most of his time in Barcelona with a move to Everton and Kurzawa could become a good replacement for Jordi Alba.

At 27, Layvin also has Arsenal and Napoli interested in his services. In his almost five years at PSG, he has scored 13 goals and handed out 17 assists, although he has clearly lost his pace, both in terms of playing time and, of course, in terms of attacking production. He has been capped 13 times by France, although he has not played for Les Bleus for over a year.
