Barcelona denied to receive half a million euros for Malcom

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday ruled in favour of Zenit St Petersburg and dismissed the claim filed by Barcelona, which demanded the Russian club pay 490,000 euros for Malcom.

The corresponding court decision was sent to the Russian club on Thursday and published on the Telegram channel of the club sponsored by the Gazprom consortium. The two clubs had agreed in the transfer contract that Zenit would pay compensation to Barcelona each time the Russian side qualified for the Champions League group stage.

Zenit argued that FIFA ruled in 2023 that the club from the former tsarist capital should not pay such a bonus, having been excluded in March 2022 from European competitions due to the war in Ukraine. In July 2023, Zenit agreed with Al-Hilal on the transfer of Malcom for 60 million euros.

Malcom's career began at Corinthians, he joined Girondins in 2016, who paid €5 million to sign him, and joined Barcelona for €40 million (2018), the same amount Zenit paid in 2019.
