Barca willing to sell Lewandowski and keep Eric Garcia, Roberto renewal talks stalled

Barcelona were defeated by Girona at Montilivi at the weekend, propelling Real Madrid to another La Liga title. With the season all but wrapped up, the Barca board can now focus on putting together the squad for next season. On Monday morning, 'Mundo Deportivo' published a piece of information that helps to shape the 'Cule' scenario.

First issue: Robert Lewandowski. The most recent news about him is that he wants to stay at the Catalan side. However, the position of the board is in favour of a potential sale in the summer if a convincing proposal arrives - for example, from Saudi Arabia. The reasons lie in his salary, which will be more than 30 million euros in 2024/25, and in his performance, which is understood to be decreasing due to his age. He is 36 years old.

Second issue: Eric Garcia. The centre-back had been left out of Xavi Hernandez's plans for this season, but he has become a key figure in Girona's surprise qualification for the Champions League. His ability to play the ball out from the back and his ability to maintain, at the same time, a remarkable defensive strength have once again come to the fore and the Catalan coach wants to put them to the test with his return. He is currently on loan.

Third issue: Sergi Roberto. His renewal is on track, but Barcelona disagree with his agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, over the length of his new contract. Joan Laporta's leadership wants to extend him for just one season, but the agent prefers two. The most likely solution is to tie up an option until 2026 if the captain completes a minimum number of games played.
