The list of potential new full-backs for Barcelona for next season is extensive. There are names known to all, such as Joao Cancelo, but the work of the sporting management also involves finding professionals who are perhaps not so well known and who could add quality to Xavi Hernandez's squad. Amar Dedic, a young Bosnian who plays for Salzburg, falls into this category.
According to his country's press, there were scouts at his team's Euro 2024 qualifier against Iceland. The 'Cules' scouts saw up close how he participated in all of his team's goals, although he only appeared in the records for one, the last one, because he scored it himself. After dribbling past an opponent into the box from the right flank, he cut inside to the edge of the box and beat opposing goalkeeper Runarsson with a whipping strike to the near post.
It was not the first time he had troubled the opposing back line, which witnessed his constant attempts to get to the byline to cross. In fact, when he couldn't do it, he crossed the ball in anyway, providing several shooting options for his compatriot Prevljak, who persisted without luck and could only celebrate Krunic's brace.
Back to Dedic, his performance against Iceland makes him a right-back who responds well to Xavi Hernandez's demands. As well as fulfilling the original duties of a player in his position, defensive duties, he possesses the ability to get forward and generate dangerous chances, which is essential to be part of Barcelona's style of play.
