Barca consider Maffeo as an option for their right-back

Barcelona still have work to do in the transfer market. One of the positions to be reinforced is right-back, and the main name is Joao Cancelo. However, given the difficulty of bringing in the Portuguese, the alternative could be Pablo Maffeo.

According to information from 'TV3', the Catalan defender, who could leave for 10 million euros although his clause is 30 million. The problem for Barca is that Sevilla are also in the race for him and are close to reaching an agreement with Mallorca.

In a recent interview with 'Mundo Deportivo', Laporta acknowledged that they want to sign a right-back. Cancelo, with a contract at City until 2027, is complicated by his cost (50 million minimum) and the only option would be a loan move. 

On the other hand, Maffeo has a contract with Mallorca until 2026. But according to 'IB3 Notícies', Sevilla and the Balearic club have reached an agreement for the transfer including a swap deal.

The Catalan player, who came through the Manchester City youth academy and made his first-team debut under Guardiola, made 96 appearances for Girona, where he excelled before moving to Stuttgart. He also made 25 appearances for SD Huesca and 73 for Mallorca. In total, he has 128 La Liga appearances, 4 goals and 12 assists.
