Barca confirm Andreas Christensen's injury

Andreas Christensen is one of five confirmed absentees for Barcelona against Athletic Club. The centre-back, who played some minutes against Valencia, had to stop training at 100% due to an injury that has already been named this Saturday: tendinopathy in his left Achilles

‘Relevo’ had already advanced the situation of the player and in the hours before the match, the Azulgrana team published their medical report in which they confirmed the injury of the Danish player. On Friday he remained inside the Ciudad Deportiva and was not seen on the pitch, as he was with the physiotherapists and later met with the doctors to find out what his problem was.

The truth is that this is nothing new. Christensen already had to miss several games last season due to hamstring problems and was never able to feel at ease. Hansi Flick explained at the press conference before the game against Athletic: "The way he is now, Andreas can't help the team. He played a few games last year with problems and we have to look after him. He is a very good defender and for the club it is important to have him at 100%. He can't help us at 80 per cent".

According to medical reports, it will take Andreas Christensen at least two months to recover from this injury. We are talking about a long process in which the doctors and physios must locate the source of the injury and ensure that neither the inflammation nor the pain return. A major setback with two aspects for Barca: sporting and financial.
