Barca choose Arthur Cabral: already negotiating with Basel

Arthur Cabral was not in many predictions a few months ago to be at the top of Barcelona's list of preferred strikers for the January transfer window, but he is. 'Sport' claims that the board are already in contact with Basel to sign him for between 15 and 20 million euros. The player made his debut last month, October, in a call-up to the Brazilian national team, which helped him gain notoriety.

Deco is the big reason for his emergence on the list of targets for the Catalan giants. The former player was appointed as the club's new scout in Brazil and Portugal and has been quick to draw up very positive reports on the attacker, who is highly rated for his physical power and his performance in recent seasons.

The player began his current adventure in Switzerland in the 2019-20 season, joining from Palmeiras after making a splash at Ceara, a more humble Brazilian club. His first steps at Basel were on loan, but the club eventually signed him on a permanent basis.

And that is exactly what Barcelona are now looking for to bolster their forward line. With the possible retirement of Kun Aguero due to heart problems in the air, Arthur Cabral stands as an option for the future and, in a sense, low cost, because, although 15-20 million euros are still an unattainable amount for many clubs, they seem 'low cost' in the current financial reality of the Barcelona side.
