With the final format of the Champions League and the venue for the final known, the only loose end that remains is to know where the four remaining 2nd leg matches will be held. This is something that Real Madrid and Barcelona are very much keeping an eye on because the final decision could favour them or harm them. But Aleksander Ceferin has already given a deadline to clear up the question.
"No decision has been made on the second leg matches of the last 16, whether they will be played at the stadiums of the teams that have that right or at a neutral ground", confirmed the UEFA president, who assured that "there will be a solution before 10th July".
As a hint, Ceferin made it clear that "UEFA have to think about the safety and health of everyone", something that a priori makes the balance in favour of a neutral venue for the resolution of the round of 16.
"We're discussing it with the clubs. They're different positions. We'll make a decision shortly", the UEFA president confirmed. While Barca hope to play at the Camp Nou, even if it's without fans, Real Madrid prefer for it to be in Portugal, as they must come back from the 2-1 first leg defeat.
