Everything happened in the opening minutes of the 2nd half. Mario Balotelli went for a ball close to the byline. The Brescia player picked the ball up and kicked it to row Z, where the 'tifosis' were.
The racist chants that happened throughout the match were decisive for the Italian striker's reaction. Balotelli threatened to leave the match because of the insults he was receiving.
The referee stopped the match at once for 4 minutes at the same time as players from both teams insisted that Balotelli continue playing.
"I'm not playing anymore", Balotelli said to the rest of his teammates. Finally, as he was heading to the tunnel, his teammates convinced him to keep playing at the same time as the rest of the stadium chanted his name.
Despite the racist chants, Balotelli continued the match. The Italian international ended up scoring Brescia's only goal in the last few minutes to spice up the final moments.
