Now without Mourinho on the bench, Tottenham continue with their season - and everything is to play for.
This Sunday, City and Spurs will battle it out for the EFL Cup at Wembley. Ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Bale will be up for the encounter.
"No matter what, Tottenham have good players. I watched Gareth Bale the other night against Southampton, he was the best player on the pitch. If he feels good about himself, if he feels loved and wanted, he comes out on Sunday and thinks ‘I’m going to murder that left-back of Man City', which I think he can", Redknapp said to 'Goal'.
The ex-manager hopes that the Spurs players don't leave it all to Bale, he needs them. "And if Harry Kane and Son are there, Tottenham have a genuine chance. I love Dele Alli. He’s a fantastic player. Someone has to get a grip of him, maybe he needs to get a grip of himself as well, but he can really play. He can make a difference", he added.
Lastly, he gave his opinion on Mourinho's sacking. "It was a really strange one,” Redknapp said. “There was talk of Jose going, but I couldn’t see it happening when it did. I don’t know what’s gone on, but there’s got to be a reason behind it. One thing is for sure, Tottenham will have someone in place already. I know how Daniel Levy works", he concluded.
