Gareth Bale was one of the Tottenham absentees in their latest Premier League match against Crystal Palace (1-1). Asked about it, José Mourinho explained in the press conference that his absence was due to illness.
However, he immediately turned off any alarm as soon as he started his answer: "He doesn’t feel very well. Of course, I want to say it’s not coronavirus. He tested, no chance".
"But kind of a flu, this kind of little feeling. He’s not feeling so well", Mourinho continued, who added that he expects him to face Liverpool: "He was ill, not Covid, not even flu that keeps you in bed for a week. I believe for Wednesday he will be fine".
For the time being, between injuries and rests, Gareth Bale has only played 508 minutes in 9 matches for Tottenham. The last of his goals on his Spurs return was the 3rd December against LASK Linz in the Europa League.
