Real Sociedad confirmed on Monday what many had feared: Hamari Traore's serious knee injury following the nasty twist he suffered in this weekend's 0-0 draw with Getafe.
According to the club's medical statement, the 32-year-old Malian has a "ruptured anterior cruciate ligament" in his right knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days to begin the recovery process.
For the player, this is unfortunate. Last season he was able to play 40 games and had started again as a starter, but now everything points to the fact that he will miss the rest of the season.
The injury occurred around the hour mark. Hamari Traore jumped to clear a ball and when he landed he felt a pop in his knee. After medical attention, he was replaced in the 66th minute by Aihen Munoz.
Traore takes the brunt of the match at the Coliseum, although two other players also had to leave the field. At half-time, Igor Zubeldia went off with a concussion after a heavy blow to the head, and Imanol also had to replace Brais Mendez as a precaution.
