Cadiz have a new player. The Cadiz club have informed through their official channels of the signing of Australian international player Awer Mabil, who lands in Andalusian territory for free.
The 26-year-old has put an end to his spell at Midtjylland, the club that owned his rights and sent him out on loan to Kasimpasa in the Turkish Liga last season. Mabil has already become Cadiz's first signing for the 2022-23 season and has signed a four-year contract until 2026.
Despite being a Kenyan national, Mabil is a nationalised Australian citizen and an international with the national team. He recently scored the decisive penalty goal that qualified Australia for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Trained in the ranks of Campbelltown City and Adeleide United, he made the leap to Europe in 2015 with Danish side Midtylland. Since then, he has played on loan at Esbjerg, Paços de Ferreira and the aforementioned Kasimpasa.

After signing for Cadiz, Mabil said: "For me, it means everything as a footballer to sign for Cadiz and come to La Liga. It's a dream come true for me and my family. I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to getting started.
He added: "Our job is to win games and provide entertainment for our fans. La Liga is one of the best championships in the world, with some of the best teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. I never imagined I could play against them. Now it's a reality. Now I have to work hard. I will give my best to win games, against the big teams it will be even more special. I'm looking forward to all these challenges.
