In the shock result of the weekend, Southampton and new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl brought a sudden end to Arsenal's 22 match unbeaten run, by nicking the spoils late on at St Mary's.
Charlie Austin was the man to nod the hosts to victory, as his 85th minute header was enough to earn them three vital points.
With the win, Southampton moved up to 17th in the table; and ahead of their next two fixtures against Huddersfield and West Ham, goal scorer Austin has claimed that it is imperative that the team continue to fight for results.
Austin told 'Sky Sports': "A new manager comes in with new ideas and all of a sudden the lads get a bit of a rocket and start expressing themselves. It didn't work under Mark Hughes, we just didn't get the right results. But that's gone now. The new manager's in, had two games and we've got a win."
He continued: "We've got a big Christmas coming up. Our next two games are massive for us, one here and one away - Huddersfield and then West Ham here. We've got to try and take six points."
The victory also spelled a maiden success for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, in his first home match in charge of the 'Saints'.
The challenge now for the South Coast club, is to maintain this winning feeling, so to propel themselves away from the relegation zone.
