Christian Atsu has been rescued alive from the rubble following Monday's earthquake in Turkey. His club Hatayspor said he was rescued with injuries.
The player's agent, Nana Sechere, told 'The Mirror' on Wednesday how the African player experienced the tragedy: "The last I heard from him was on Sunday at midnight. Christian and his team-mates were playing poker until 3.30am at a friend's apartment".
"The journey back to his apartment took about half an hour. He came back at four o'clock in the morning and the earthquake started about 20 minutes later. I didn't hear anything until I got a call from a club official at five o'clock in the morning asking if I knew anything. He told me that Christian's building had been completely destroyed and they couldn't get hold of him," he added.
He explained the anxious moments: "He was in an eleven-storey building and he was on the ninth floor. The club officials tried to help me find him, but it was very difficult because, understandably, they were also trying to find their own friends and family.
