Atletico look to sign Cavani and sell Lemar in January

After the good performances in the Super Cup, Atletico showed they can put up a fight against anyone, at least in one off fixtures. In order to become more consistent, Simeone wants to sign Cavani. In recent weeks, hardly any other player has been spoken about. But Paris Saint Germain are not making it easy at all. 

'El Larguero', a radio programme on 'Cadena SER', reports that 'Los Rojiblancos' will try and sign the Uruguayan, but, if they cannot do it, no one other striker will come, at least not in this winter transfer window. Either Cavani or nobody. 

As well as Thomas Tuchel, Thiago Silva also spoke about the number '9': "We have to keep him. A team like PSG needs a player like him."

That said, the club do not rule out other signings in other areas of the pitch. Simeone of course will have his say and he will talk to the sporting director and his team to discuss options. 

In any case, the arrival of new signings at the Wanda depends on Lemar's departure. Atletico would get rid of an expensive player and free up a space in attack. The Frenchman is basically convinced he will leave. 

In 21 matches, ten of them starts, he has not shown why he should be given more opportunities. He cost 70 million euros and has performed at a much poorer level than expected. Now, his departure could be key to Atleti signing new players.
