Atletico are considering paying Canales' buyout clause

Sergio Canales of Real Betis has caught the interest of Atletico Madrid in this summer's transfer window, according to the journalist Antonio Ruiz on the programme 'Tiempo de Juego'. 

Atletico Madrid are in the middle of restructuring their team due to the multiple players they have lost at the end of this season. The midfield is one of the areas they need to cover. 

Hector Herrera will be the first player they sign for the midfield, but it seems like Atletico have also got their eyes on Sergio Canales, whose buyout clause is 40 million euros. 

Canales' performances have attracted the attention of the Madrid side's coaching staff and they are thinking of paying that amount of money after Atletico's attempts a month ago to negotiate the price with Betis were unsuccessful.
