Things in football can change very quickly. Just last year, Atlético Madrid were ready to file a lawsuit against Barcelona for negotiating with Antoine Griezmann without their permission. Now, 'Los Colchoneros' are reportedly urging Barcelona to quickly tie up a deal for the Frenchman - the tables have certainly turned in the Griezmann saga.
The Catalan newspaper didn't specify that it was Atlético who are trying to open negotiations with Barcelona, but it is being suggested that they are now happy to discuss a fee lower than the attacker's release clause, which currently stands at 200 million Euros but will go down to 120 million Euros at the start of July.
They are now resigned to losing Griezmann, and want the money and time to be able to agree a deal for Joao Félix - who would cost a similar amount from Benfica as it would take Barcelona to sign Griezmann.
Félix's agent Jorge Mendes has asked Atleti to make their interest concrete if they do really want the forward, with Manchester City reportedly lurking and ready to move for the Portuguese international.
