Arsenal's interest in Sander Berge has increased. The Gunners got in contact with Sheffield United to make an offer of 16 million pounds, but it was rejected. They are likely to do the same again or that is, at least, what 'The Sun' says. Xhaka, despite his good performances with Switzerland at the Euros, is close to leaving the club.
The North London club's plan is to get a replacement for Xhaka in case he leaves. The Blades footballer has been performing at a good level for two seasons, he has adapted to the Premier League and he is just 23. Berge has a very bright future ahead of him, always a plus point when clubs are looking for a new player.
It is especially eyecatching that Xhaka is on the verge of departure from the Emirates because he has been brilliant for his national team. He actually won the Man of the Match award in the game against France, one of the favourites who were knocked out by the Swiss. Xhaka gave the award to his coach Petkovic instead.
In any case, it is time to focus on Sander Berge, who looks set to replace him. Arsenal will have to put 17 million euros on the table, but that is his market value. The previous offer for one million less ended up being rejected.
