The match failed to live up to expectations as both sides failed to produce their best football, but it was a feisty affair nonetheless.
Spurs had the best of the early chances and Kane came close to scoring on his return from injury a couple of times. Firstly, Son broke down the left and put in a teasing ball for Kane, but the England striker couldn't quite reach the South Korean's cross. Kane then headed agonisingly wide from a cross from Christian Eriksen.
Arsenal then grew into the game and should have gone ahead through Iwobi. The Nigerian was played in by Alexis Sanchez, but could only hit his weak effort straight at Lloris.
Shortly after, Theo Walcott rattled the post with a powerful long-range effort and Ozil failed to volley in from the reboud. The German would almost definitely have found the net if he hit the target but in fairness to him, the ball travelled quickly to him.
Just before half-time, Arsenal had the lead. Ozil's free-kick from the right was headed in to his own net by Wimmer and Arsenal went in ahead at the break.
Throughout the first half, there were a number of strong challenges that flew in, which is to be expected of a derby of this magnitude and there was one particular heated exchange between Walcott and Vertonghen after Wanyama barged through the back of Coquelin.
Spurs came out stronger in the second half and Kane put his side level from the penalty spot. Dembele was brought down by Koscielny at the edge of the box and the Spurs striker hit his penalty straight down the middle of the goal, narrowly missing Cech's foot who had dived to the left.
Tottenham almost took the lead when Eriksen pounced on a poor header from Mustafi, but Cech got down well to save.
Pochettino's side continued to have the better of the chances throughout the rest of the game. Eriksen's cross-cum-shot from a free-kick evaded Spurs and Arsenal players and rattled the post, while Janssen had a half-volley well saved by Cech.
However, overall a draw was probably a fair result on the balance of play and there cannot be too many complaints from either manager.
