One of Mikel Arteta's wishes this summer transfer window is about to come true. Arsenal and Real Sociedad after lengthy negotiations have reached a 32 million euro deal for Mikel Merino.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the recently crowned European Championship winner with Spain has agreed a four-year contract plus an optional one-year contract with the Emirates outfit.
The deal, as revealed by the Italian journalist, is worth €32m plus €5m add-ons with favourable payment terms. Merino only wanted Arsenal's option to leave Real Sociedad and it looks like he will end up being part of Arteta's plans in the Gunners' midfield alongside Declan Rice and Thomas Partey.
The 28-year-old midfielder has played 242 times for Real Sociedad in the last six years, while he has also amassed 28 caps for ‘La Roja’. If confirmed, Mikel Merino will become the second addition to Mikel Arteta's squad this summer following the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Seria A side Genoa.
