Araujo decides to STAY at Barcelona

Barcelona sporting director Deco has convinced Ronald Araujo to reject Juventus' interest and stay at Montjuic. 'Mundo Deportivo' reported this early this morning. A little later, ‘Sport’, Fabrizio Romano and ‘Relevo’ confirmed the situation, which stems from a meeting between the former player and the current Hansi Flick defender. They spoke on Tuesday night and determined that the best thing is for him to remain in the project.

The first of the two Catalan newspapers mentioned in the previous paragraph, in fact, suggests that there could soon be an agreement to renew his contract. The current one expires on 30th June 2026. The second of the newspapers expresses that, from Turin, there is a feeling of being fed up with the situation. The ‘Bianconeri’ are on the verge of giving up on the signing they were longing for to shore up their backline.

The next few weeks are the ideal scenario for the talks that have put Uruguayan's situation on track to find a positive impact on the pitch. Inigo Martinez suffered a ruptured biceps femoris in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, his team-mate came in for him and, barring a surprise, will take his place alongside Pau Cubarsi in the next few games. As soon as the Uruguayan stands out, he will make the good feeling grow.

This month, in fact, there are some important fixtures on Barcelona's schedule. They have to face Real Betis in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and close the league phase of the Champions League, in which their rivals are Benfica and Atalanta. On the domestic front, they face Getafe at the Coliseum and Valencia in Barcelona, two games in which the ‘Cules’ are expected to win.
