Club captain Antonio Valencia is looking to leave Manchester United as soon as January, as he is convinced that it will be nearly impossible to win back the trust of his manager.
As reported by the ‘Daily Mail’, the Ecuadorian’s agent has been in England this week to discuss the player’s options, who is said to be of interest to fellow Premier League club West Ham, as well as a range of Spanish clubs.
According to the English media outlet, Valencia is known to have fallen out with manager Jose Mourinho in the aftermath of the side’s disheartening home draw with Spanish side Valencia, in the Champions League earlier this season. The right back happened to like a social media post calling for the manager to be sacked, but after a series of public and private apologies, the player is said to be unhappy at the ongoing feud and cold treatment from Mourinho. The two are now barely on speaking terms.
United have the option to extend the full back’s contract, for an additional 12 months, before it expires next summer.
In spite of his current exile from the first team, Valencia, United’s longest serving current player, could be handed a start in the huge local derby against Liverpool this weekend. The ‘Red Devils’ are set to be without a host of first team players, due to an injury crisis, and as such, he could be called upon by his manager.
