After the injury to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele being ruled out for six months, Barcelona are looking for a centre forward to reinforce the squad until the end of the season. One of the names to be linked with the club is Angel who has scored 13 goals this season. He has netted 39 times in his two and a half seasons at the club.
The Getafe striker had a press conference this Wednesday and in it he referred to that interest from Barca. Basically, the footballer denied he had received any formal offer and seemed calm despite the speculation.
"What I know is what has appeared in the press. There's nothing at the moment. I'm calm and concentrating on Getafe. I'm working my socks off for this club and there is nothing in principle," Angel said. Even so, he was flattered by Barca's supposed interest.
"When the news is about a big club like Barcelona, there is more media coverage, but as they ae just rumours, I'm very calm. If they get in contract with me, I will have time to think about things. I've been at Getafe during several transfer windows and there is always talk of me leaving. That means I'm doing things well," he pointed out.
Precisely, Barcelona are Getafe's next opponents. The encounter will take place at the Camp Nou on Saturday at 4pm.
"We are facing one of the best teams in the world and also at their place. It's going to be very difficult, but we have to continue at this level to get the three points and have a good match," he pointed out.
Angel received a commemorative plaque from his president Angel Torres, this Wednesday in a Madrid restaurant. The plaque was for going past 100 competitive matches for Getafe.
"I'm very happy to reach 100 games for Getafe. We are doing well in third, but there's a lot of the season to go," he concluded.
