Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was happy with his side's performance against Barca despite the 1-0 defeat, which he said "gives them confidence for the second leg" after not having "allowed Barcelona to play the way they want to play".
"It was a good game. We planned it to be intense and we did it. We pressed high and that's why Barcelona only had 36% of possession. We could have been more accurate in their half, but it was difficult because the defensive lines were very solid. It's a game that gives us confidence for the second leg, although it's not a good result, we just have to repeat the game in Barcelona," he told the press conference.
"We started and finished the game well. Then there was that individual mistake on a bad pass and they scored off a rebound. It affected the team a bit. But in the second half we didn't let Barcelona play the way they wanted to," he continued.
"We are satisfied with the game because you don't always have the chance to control the game like we did tonight against a team like Barcelona. We have to come from behind, but it's not the first time we've done it in a tie," he said.
