'Foxes' fullback Daniel Amartey looked in considerable discomfort after tussling with West Ham's Michail Antonio, although replays showed that the Leicester player had gotten his foot stuck in the turf, and that was the cause of a very serious ankle injury.
The makeshift right back lay on the ground in agony in the closing stages of the match, and it was immediately apparent that the player had suffered a very serious injury, as he received oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered off.
Speaking after the game, Leicester City boss Claude Puel provided an update on Amartey's condition, saying: "My first thought is for my player at the end, Amartey. I hope it is not serious, he played well and gave everything. It’s difficult to see this at the end. My thoughts are more about his injury than about the game. He needs to have it examined and then we will see after. I hope it is not serious."
Having made all three substitutions, hosts Leicester were forced to play the final minutes of the match with 10 men.
Amartey has been heavily involved in Puel's side so far this campaign, featuring in all but one of their ten Premier League games so far, and will likely prove a big miss for his manager and teammates.
The 23 year old joined the midlands club in 2016, featuring regularly in their historic Premier League winning campaign. To date, Amartey has made a total of 63 appearances in all competitions for Leicester City.
