Ajax prevent Edson Alvarez from joining Valencia

Valencia are looking to reinforce their defence and Edson Alvarez is a player who has been strongly linked with a move to Valencia in recent weeks. The Mexican will not leave Ajax, at least for now. 

According to 'Goal', Ajax are refusing to let the central defender go. He is a key player for Ten Hag. He joined the club from America and, at the age of 23, he has a bright future in Europe. 

Valencia believe getting a central defender to bolster the back line together with Gabriel Paulista, Diakhaby and co. is vital. Javi Gracia asked for one in the summer and he hopes to have one soon. 

Ajax do not want to let Alvarez go out on loan, which is what Valencia were offering as a result of their difficult financial situation. Therefore, Edson Alvarez will stay in the Eredivisie until the end of the season.
