AFE Unidos criticises lack of funding for testing in lower league football

AFE Unidos consider the amount of money designated for weekly testing in lower league football by the AFE insufficient, generating uncertainty and a potential lack of protection altogether.

It is one of the biggest problems with the reintroduction of non-professional football. Whilst the top two tiers of Spanish football are carrying out weekly testing on all players, that is a far cry from what is taking place in Segunda B, Tercera, and women's football.

AFE Unidos says that the 640 000 euros promised by the AFE is insufficient and won't cover all of the necessary costs. They think that a more accurate figure is more than triple that, at least two million euros.

In a hard-hitting statement, AFE Unidos also criticised the misuse of funds by the AFE, stating that the so-called 'end of career fund' has been run dry as a result of funding being redirected to staff costs.
