Adam spent the 2011-12 season along side Gerrard in the Liverpool midfield, and thinks that he will be a revelation for Rangers after years of dissapointment.
Gerrard has brought in 10 players to Ibrox to try and improve their quality, and managed to get through the second round of qualification for the Europa League against Osijek.
The former England midfielder will face a difficult test in his first match in the Scottish Premiership against Aberdeen, but Adam thinks that he can make a positive impact at the club.
"The players that they're signing, the calibre of player they can attract because of who he is, his aura in the game, what he's achieved... all that is going to improve them." the former Rangers told the 'BBC'.
A big challenge for Gerrard will be to try and close the gap with Glasgow rivals Celtic, after they have dominated Scottish football winning the last 7 league titles in succession.
"They are going to be able to challenge Celtic, [however] the Old Firm games are not going to decide the whole season because you need to go to Tynecastle, Easter Road, Pittodrie." Adam added.
