Calvert-Lewin, in for the suspended Richarlison, levelled just 87 seconds after the visitors had taken a shock lead at Goodison Park.
Curiously, the former Sheffield United striker was also involved in Huddersfield's goal as he inadvertently flicked Aaron Mooy's corner into the path of towering Dane Philip Billing to open the scoring.
The 'Toffees' weren't behind for long, though, as Lucas Digne swung in a cross from out on the left, with Calvert-Lewin rising highest to steer home a header. Jonas Lossl in the Huddersfield goal, who replaced Ben Hamer in the starting lineup, didn't really help his first-team claims, with some onlookers suggesting that he arguably should have kept the ball out.
Everton suffered a blow when Theo Walcott limped off just before the hour mark, though his replacement, Ademola Lookman, looked dangerous.
At the other end, Steve Mounie forced Jordan Pickford into a sharp save, but it was Everton who would press most in the closing stages.
They never truly looked like breaking down a determined 'Terriers' side, though, leaving both teams to settle for a point.
David Wagner is likely to be the happier of the two managers based on the balance of play. The result leaves Everton on six points from their first four games of the season, but things are bleaker for Huddersfield, who are already flirting with relegation with just two points to their name.
