Cristiano Ronaldo was beginning to grow frustrated at the lack of chances for his side and, with half-time looming, the Swiss defenders got into a mix-up to score the goal that could see Portugal into the World Cup.

Portugal got extremely lucky in the first half of their crucial clash with Switzerland when Djourou put the ball into his own net.

The keeper palmed away a cross from the left and Djourou, under pressure by Joao Mario, saw the ball rebound off his leg before rolling into the net.
