Karim Benzema seemed to have put Real Madrid ahead against Sevilla at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium. The French striker headed home a cross from Alvaro Odriozola, but Odriozola was offside in the build up.

It could seem comical, but Alvaro Odriozola slipping cost Karim Benzema a goal inside the first quarter of an hour.

Real Madrid went onto the pitch looking to go top of La Liga and they took the lead after 13 minutes, but the VAR had other ideas.

Odriozola got the ball on the right flank and sent a beautiful cross into the box which the Frenchman headed home. Real Madrid fans were celebrating the fact they were 1-0 up, but the VAR disallowed it for offside.

TV pictures showed that the fullback slipped and that meant his right foot was offside. In any case, Odriozola had looked sharp for Real Madrid in the early stages.
