There was always going to be goals in the match as Bayern hadn't failed to score 3 goals against Dusseldorf since 1996. And right from the off, they battered the visitors' defence. They only had to wait 15 mins before they were in front.
Mueller played the ball to Gnabry at the back post, he cut it back for Pavard, and the Frenchman's effort was deflected in by Zanka. That was a sign of things to come, and Pavard didn't have to wait too long to get his name on the scoresheet.
After Kastenmeier made the initial save from Mueller, Pavard headed home from Kimmich's resulting corner. Things got even more easier for Bayern just before half-time when Lewandowski killed the game.
Some lovely play from the Bavarian outfit with Kimmich, Mueller and Lewandowski all involved. Kimmich played it back to Mueller, who cut it back to Lewandowski, and the Polish striker knocked it into the net to get his first ever goal against Fortuna Dusseldorf. The goal now means that he has scored against all 18 current Bundesliga sides. A fantastic record.
Shortly after the break, Bayern made it 4. Another Bayern attack saw Gnabry cross it in for Lewandowski, and the striker backheeled it through the keeper's legs. The home side got their 5th almost seconds later.
Davies worked his way into the box after some sloppy Dusseldorf defending, and then had the simplest of chances as he slotted it past Kastenmeier. Dusseldorf should have got a consolation goal when Hoffmann headed wide from yards out, while Bayern could have made things a lot more embarrassing for their opponents with Mueller and Gnabry both missing decent chances.
The Bavarians are now 10 points clear at the top, albeit Dortmund have a game in hand, but you think it's just a matter of time before Bayern wrap up their 8th successive Bundesliga title.
